Hello,

While adding connects, what is the fastest way to rip out tracks I don't like anymore?

I think the best advice I ever received from a long-time Allegro designer:

"always, always have the Select Filter, Display, and Options panels open."  .

I just tried the effect of that. So I have a trace between two components. I make another trace joining those two. The previous trace is destroyed. Very good.

Also, if I just want to rip one out without putting a new trace right now, what do I do?

I have Options, visibility and filter open always. I made a screen capture. Those are the ones you recommend?

You have to use the select/find filters to delete the existing etch yourself.

Which is why I love Allegro.

I don't use the Gloss command enough to find this, Allegro won't clean the stubs/antennas or loops.  It will DRC flag them though.

Other, lesser software, MGC P*DS is designed to remember every connection as a netlist "pin pair" that should/can only have one connecting path.  Need multiple to improve copper connections to carry current?   Well, you can protect one and add a second but if you globally unprotect everything, including your ground plane stitching vias...

P*DS will almost randomly decide to clean all of your "redundant" connections...

    Without telling you.

Would you recommend I go to PlacementEdit and press the X icon and right click and select done? Is that the easiest?

Oh, this problem.   There are things you can do in Placement Edit mode that you can't do in Etch Edit mode.

Swap components, Move, rotate, mirror, create replicate block, unplace component, highlight associated nets, add to group, 3D view

But, if you only have symbols selected in your find filter, you can select a symbol in etch-edit mode to drive the fanout function without extra steps to select just the symbol.

You need to be in Etch Edit mode before you can put etch things in the find filter.

My solution was to get a Logitech Gaming mouse with extra buttons for my thumb.

One is assigned to a keyboard macro that types "PlacementEdit", the  other "EtchEdit,, a third "move".
