new device CLASSes ? in capture.

Hello there.

I came across this message in capture:

CLASS property 'NONE' is illegal: 'Class must be one of IC, IO, DISCRETE, MECHANICAL, PLATING_BAR or DRIVER_CELL.'.

Of course is obvious that I can't assign NONE as class but I have never know about those classes:
MECHANICAL, PLATING_BAR or DRIVER_CELL

What is their use?

Regards

Krissn

I believe that the PLATING_BAR and DRIVER_CELL classes are for ic design. The only class that I use is MECHANICAL. If you create a pinless symbol
in orcad or capture you can give it a refdes and use a pcb footprint that is a mechanical part (.dra .bsm) and use this class.
This will part will appear in the bom and netlist and will appear in your list of components to place in your board.
You need to make sure that your mechanical symbol only contains mechanical pins (no pin numbers allowed).

Plating_Bar is also used for the plating bar for boards with finger connectors to be gold plated.  That keeps it out of sight for other tools and views when not needed to be seen.
