Double clik con DSN starts PCB Ruoter

Hello,

 I installed 17.4

Before installing it with a double click on DSN started Capture 17.2

Now stars PCB Router and not Capture 17.4

I tried with windows "Open with" in context menu but starts always PCB Router

Any idea?

Thanks

Stefano

This is fairly common.  But when you choose OrCAD you select the checkbox for always and it still does it?

Google file association windows and see if you find a topic on how to eliminate a file association.  Remove it.  Then double-click on the DSN and select OrCAD and see if that works.  It's a registry related issue.

Select the DSN file but don't double-click

(menu button click ) >Open With   >Choose another App

Checkbox, always open with or you will have to do this over and over.

    Navigate to (for which version?)

    C:\Cadence\SPB_17.4\tools\bin\Capture.exe

    C:\Cadence\SPB_17.2\tools\bin\Capture.exe

    C:\Cadence\SPB_16.6\tools\bin\Capture.exe

Yep.  I stick with 17.4 because it flies compared to the older versions.   Haven't run into a backwards compatibility issue like Allegro pcb does.

17.4 flies?  OMG.  It is so much slower now than 17.2 we reverted back to 17.2.  Literally taking 3 seconds to open the color menu for example.

What's your system?  We see no resource limits being used.  Just something very weird about 17.4 using an ethernet MAC license.  17.2 uses the dongle so I wonder if there's some licensing hiccup.

    16.6 and 17.2 is 32 bit.  CIS 17.4 is 64 bit.

I do have my own flex license server/HASP dongle since I am the lone "Cadence guy"

HP G2-Z4 mini i7-8700 with NVidia 1000, 16gb of RAM and latest windows 10.

I'm uninstalling/reinstalling 17.4 to write up a procedure as someone is losing their minds that the entire SPB suite is getting installed to use the paid physical viewer with Allegro DE CIS.

I don't remember any delays with the color-192 menu but I don't use it very often with the view collection.

More later after I go back to the original full 17.4 suite.

17.4 SP10.   CIS opens to launch a project in just under three seconds.   In my world, Allegro delays don't matter.  Just happy I'm not doing it in P*DS.
