PCB Editor unable to open .brd files

 I use OrCad version 17.4-2019 S007 trial version. I am able to successfully open files  that have the extension .dra  that are located in (C:\Cadence\SPB_17.4\share\pcb\pcb_lib\symbols) using pcb editor. But when I open .brd file generated from the Capture software, the pcb editor software freezes and doesn't respond. attempts to use any other .brd file in pcb editor fails .
