I want to get better at PCB design. But I don't know where to start...

Ok, this might be a weird question, but let me explain:

I don't have a lot of experience with designing PCBs.
But I want to get some experience.

The problem is that I currently don't have any "personal projects" that I could work on.
And if I started a new project right now, it would take me a few months until I would even come close to the point filesynced where I would design the actual PCB.
(Yes, my "development times" are pretty long for "just personal projects", but I like to "over engineer" every little detail ...)

So, what should I do?

Practicing circuit design is easier because it is one of the first things in the development process, where as PCB design is one of the later parts of the development process. And you can't do PCB-Design without a schematic to work from!

One thing that I thought about is trying to "reverse engineer" already existing devices and try to "re-do" the PCBs for them in a better way.

Any ideas?

I am NOT looking for a "PCB design tutorial", I know all the theoretical stuff, I think I just need to get some actual practice ...
