NET_SHORT Property

archive
archive over 18 years ago

All,

I'm having a problem with the subject property. Referring to a Cadence app note, I wanted to short two nets using vias. I selected a via and using the following syntax (NET_SHORT=AGND:DGND) and tried to short these two nets. The via displayed the correct properties but only connected to the net name of the first net(in this case, AGND). Reversing the order resulted in DGND being attached but not to AGND. I know there are alternate ways of making this desired connection and I use most of them but I want to make this work. Any suggestions ? I use ver 15.7.

Thanks,

Ron Scott

    All,

While receiving no input from the forum, I have received several off-line mails concerning this problem. There seems to be some indication that this feature worked prior to 15.5 so I have submitted an SR.

I use this property all the time. I have a symbol called shortpoint. (dra) in the schematic I place a one pin connector and call the pcb footprint shortpoint, and then i click on the pin and in the property editor  tab pin, add a new row called net_short. this where you define how the net is to be shorted. In allegro you can select property and select pin and under net short check to see if the property imported. if not you add the property and this should work, also sometimes on the second plane you may have to go from the net to the pin.

Thank you, I am referring specifically to shorting planes together with vias. I have several methods I use to perform this function but I want the ability to use vias in the .brd. I can assign the NET_SHORT property to a via but it will not hook the planes up. One plane will hook to the via while the other plane is voided.

I can't seem to get the net_short to work. I am using 15.7.

I added the property to 2 pins of a connector (gnd_power), then I added 3 vias in the gnd plane close to those pins and put the same property on them.

When I add a shape it will not connect them.

Is there a bug I don't know about.
