New engineer, huge flash symbols problem

archive
archive over 18 years ago

Hi, I am a new engineer working at the FAA. I am verifying a PCB layout and I have a huge problem with the flash symbols used in my padstacks. I have followed the manul and I am trying to just see the flash symbol apper on the negative plane where it should be connected. If you highlight nets in picture 1 the via and the plane are connected. In picture 2 you see that the other via lookl exactly the same on the plane as the connected via, pic 3 shows my padtack set up. Picture 4 shows the 2nd tab of the pad stack set up. And lastly picture 5 shows my drawing options. No matter what I do I cant see my flash symbol. it is much larger than my drill hole. This problem is present in ALL of my through hole pins. Can someone please explain to me wut is going on and how I can fix it so I can see as follows:

1) All the flash symbols show up on the correct plane for the correct node.2) When I select the layer I can tell which holes are connected and which are not.

Interesting problem. I tried a replicate the problem you are seeing with not much success.
I have some suggestions / comments:

Is the any properties attached to the Via, like NO_SHAPE_CONNECT, which will cause the via not to connect to the plane?

Is this happening on all Pins and Vias in the design or just a particular Via padstack, Pin Padstack, Plane Layer, etc.?

Maybe there is something wrong with the Flash Symbol PAD_42_FLASH that you are using, have you tried to recreate it?
