Gencad V1.4 from Allegro

archive
archive over 18 years ago

Is there a method to extract Gencad V1.4 format data from the Allegro design base?

The Cadence website directs to PTC / Ohio DA. My contact at PTC was unaware of any such tool.

Didn't Ohio DA have a skill program to produce Gencad at some point? Any idea where I would obtain the program?

Thanks,

Dave

    Dave,

Yes, there is a product available from PTC. We use it. It is Skill based and licensed. Unfortunatley on large designs, it is quite slow. We are looking at other alternatives.

Contact Mark Caradonna at PTC (mcaradonna@ptc.com 603-578-7960). He should be able to point you in the right direction.

    Charlie,

Thanks! I've sent a request to Mark for information.

I did speak with some folks at PTC this morning and they were not familiar with any such product.

As far as alternatives, please post if you find any. There used to be a few - Router Solutions Camcad (purchased by Mentor and seemingly not motivated to sell support to Allegro customers), Valor Trilogy, CAM350. All are toolsets that can be used as a secondary translation to "Gencad". Most of the documentation I've read indicates that some information from the original design file will not be maintained.

    Dave
