Create Variant schematic documentation in ConceptHDL

archive
archive over 18 years ago

I managed to create a variant inside of the Variant Editor for a ConceptHDL Schematic.  Now I would like to generate schematic that represents the variant and it appears the only thing that I am able to do is add a special Component property to the unpopulated components.

Is this really the way it works?

We have processes in place that require that schematic documentation for each variant, which means the components that are not populated are X'd out or removed from the schematic so PDF documentation can be generated.

Any help or guidance is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

    Mike,

From within the Variant Editor, you have the ability to generate the variant schematic view (Tools->Annotate Variants) which is a completely new schematic view (i.e. schvarianta_1) that is dervived from the base schematic view (sch_1). The newly derived view will have the updated annotations (new part numbers , DNI flags, etc.).

Hope this helps. If you need more details, let me know.

    Thanks Charile.

I went thru the Annotate Variants and generated the new schematic view from the base but I was looking for something that shows the components that were removed from the variant.  See attached image for an example.

We are accustom in seeing the variant schematic documentation a certain way, or should I say, the way it is generated using the Variant Manager in DxDesigner but each tool does things differently so maybe we could revise the way the documentation looks.

    Thanks again,
    Mike

    Mike,

Unfortunately, the Cadence solution will only add the DNI or DO_NOT_POP text to the variant view. It will not alter the appearance of the components. Would be a nice feature though. PCR time!
