What's the simplest way to get a company logo into a symbol file?

Take a bitmap of your logo and convert using this utility.

Raster (BMP) to Allegro (IPF) - http://sourcelink.cadence.com/docs/db/kdb/2005/Feb/11022718.html

Read the resultant file into your empty symbol.

If your logo is complex, it may be wise to retrace with shapes to minimise the data size.

    Hi,
Find the procedure to import .BMP/JPEG/.JPE/.JFIF/.GIF/.TIF/.TIFF/.PNG/.DIB file to Allegro or PADS layout:

    Uses:
1.When the customer provided the logo or drawing in bitmap(or Above any format) format.Without creating manually ,can be imported directly to the layout.
2.When the customer not given logo and asked us to down load it from the web. Down load the logo and convert it into any above mentioned format and import the same into the layout.

Procedure to import the .BMP/.JPEG//.JPE/.JFIF/.GIF/.TIF/.TIFF/.PNG/.DIB format file to PADS layout:
1.Save the above file in monochrome .bmp format.
2.Copy the script file BMP2ASC file in the same directory.
    3.Run the command BMP2ASC bitmap.bmp ascii.asc 2 26 0 0 at DOS command prompt.
Where BMP2ASC is the script file name.
bitmap.bmp is the bit map file name
ascii.asc is the converted output in .asc format.
This command will scan the data and convert it to horizontal lines 2 mils wide. These lines will be placed on layer 26 (silk-screen top), and the lower left-hand corner of the image will be at 0,0.(w.r.t.,PADS Layout).
    4. Open up a new PADs file, and import the ASC file. Be sure to set the color and the minimum display

Procedure to import the .BMP/.JPEG//.JPE/.JFIF/.GIF/.TIF/.TIFF/.PNG/.DIB format file to ALLEGRO layout:
1.Save the above file in monochrome .bmp format.
2.Copy the script file BMP2ASC and .bmp file in the same directory.
    3.Run the command BMP2ASC bitmap.bmp ascii.asc 2 26 0 0 at DOS command prompt.
Where BMP2ASC is the script file name.
bitmap.bmp is the bit map file name
ascii.asc is the converted output in .asc format.
4.Import the .asc file to allegro board file. OR
5.Import it to PADS layout.Export DXF of the same.
    6. Open up a Allegro file, and import the DXF file.

script file BMP2ASC is available under web.

    I hope problem is solved.
    Regards,

This issue has been answered many times on the forum already and you can

simply search the forum for "logo" and you will find many posts.

Here is one of the more recent posts on the subject:

Subject "making a logo for placement on a pcb"

    http://www.cdnusers.org/Forums/tabid/52/view/topic/forumid/5/postid/4258/Default.aspx

I personally load everything in the Adobe Illustrator, covert to DXF and

    import into Allegro.

KP mentioned a very key point "If your logo is complex, it may be wise

to retrace with shapes to minimise the data size."

Sometimes these imported logos can grow very large with many small

segments which will make it hard to manage in Allegro so I convert them

    over to shapes.

    Hope this helps,
