No, there is not visible origin in allegro unless you add a feature for example with: add circle ;pick 0 0, ix (radius). I usually add a small circle on a readme layer so I can see it on symbols.

    Click on Dimension Datum
    Go to Options
    Select Dimension axis --Both
Click on the origin (Keep it along X axis)--gives zero
Right mouse button click select Next ((Keep it along y axis))
    Gives zero.
This will be the board origin and Displays (0,0).

I hope this is what you required.

    Regards,
    satya.

    Hi Satya,

When you've completed the "Dimension Datum" steps you mentioned, this DOES NOT reset your 0,0. This only gives you a way of dimensioning using Data Dimensioning, and calling out a "reference 0,0 point). The database 0,0 could (will) actually be different.

What you first want to do is find the ACTUAL 0,0 point of your database. (I personally do: 1) add line; 2) x 0 0 ; and find where my 0,0 point actually is.) If I want to change it, I go to SETUP and change X and Y accordingly (this will reset the 0,0 origin).

Say I want a mounting hole to be my new 0,0. 1) Find element/select mounting hole; find it's origin. 2) SETUP, x "input X of mounting hole [TAB][TAB]; input Y coordinate of mounting hole. Now if you select the mounting hole it's origin should be 0,0.

This is the "correct" way of specifying a new 0,0. Remember the gerbers, drills, etc. are (should be) based off you 0,0. This has nothing to do with Datum Dimensioning, unless you're dimensioning off the "true" database 0,0 origin.

    Good day.
