Can't generate netlist for pcb editor (allegro 16.0)

archive

Hi!

My company recently bought a license of PCB Designer that includes the Capture and the Allegro PCB Designer.

My problem is that I'm trying to generate the 3 output files for the PCB Designer, in the PCB Editor tab of the Netlist command in Capture...when I enter the Setup dialog and select the configuration file, I press Edit and then an error message box arises telling me that "O parâmetro é incorrect" (in english, something like "The parameter is incorrect"). Then nothing happens :(

I've already worked a lot with Orcad Layout and never got this kind of problem and that makes me wonder if it isn't just a matter related to my license.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

    Hi,

My first question would be ..why are you trying to edit the configuration file ?

It is actually ,only a mapping file that is used to pass properties back and forth between Capture and Allegro PCB Editor.

If you have have previously generated a netlist , the configuration file you used is listed.

If not, by default ,latest *.CFG file in your design directory is used. If there is no configuration file in your design directory, the default will be use the ALLEGRO.CFG file that was installed with Capture.

My suggestion would be... do not edit the configuration file and use the default *.cfg file while the netlist is being generated.

    Regards,
    Prajakta.

    Thanks for your feedback,

Actually I'm not trying to edit the .cfg file. I just pressed the Setup button to see if the .cfg was selected, because the 3 netlist files weren't (and aren't) being generated.

At home I have the 15.2 version and no trouble happens when I try to generate the netlist files...

    Hello ,

Can you just elaborate, what error message you get ,when you are trying to generate the netlist files ( message in your session log )

or are you getting the same message that you have mentioned in your earlier post ?("The parameter is incorrect )

    Regards,
    Prajakta.

    Hi again,

I'm still getting the same messagem when I try to edit the default allegro.cfg file. The weird thing is that in the session log there is no error message.

The technical support told me to reinstall the software. However I'm not sure it will solve the problem...

    Thanks for the replies
    speeder.

Why are you messing with the .CFG that is not your issue, your problem is that the netlist generator is not seeing your design. make sure your design is setup as per the tutorial and try agian if this doesn't generate a log message then look to see that you have setup the lisence manager correctly. If you can't find the problem than reload the package as stated above.
