what is the functin of "Manufacturing / cut_masks"?

When output gerfile, why every gerber file must choose Manufacturing / cut_masks, thanks!

    Allen,

    Normally, you do not output the board outline with all your Gerber Layers so adding Cut Marks (also known as Crop marks) were used to visually see the edge of the PCB on each Gerber layer and something used for layer to layer alignment verification along Moiré targets. Honestly, both Crop marks and Moiré targets are no longer used or required by most PCB Fabrication shops today and at one point we asked our vendors to provide artwork films for each layer for verification / archive which is no longer a requirement.

    Bottom line, I would ask your Fabrication vendor if they requirement these board edge Cut Marks on each on the Gerber layers.
