Adding Ground Loop around Board Area

archive

Dear All In my current project I have to add ground loop around the 4 layer board. Further this loop will be shorted at connector with other grounds (Digital & Power)to make one point ground. What is the criteria for deciding upto how many layers we should make this ground loop area. What factors comes into play while deciding this? Thanks in Advance

A loop such as this is usually intended to direct an esd event around the periphery of the board rather than through the more sensitive areas. Put the ground ring on each layer if possible and make sure it is on the outer layers.
