Regarding Manufacture--Variants ( Allegro PCB Performance Option Version 16.01 )

archive
archive over 17 years ago

Hello, When I select the menu option Manufacture--Variants--Create Assembly Drawing or Manufacture--Variants--Create Bill of Material , I get a error E- (SPMHSK-5): Variants file 'variants.lst' not found. Can anyone suggest a solution on this or tell me why am I getting this error? Regards, Prajakta.

I'm just another user, not tech support.  I'm running Allegro 2020 17.4 in compatibility mode.  Since the menus change between releases, I doubt I could provide detailed instructions to you.
I cannot tell if Cadence fails to create the variant.lst or if it places it in an unexpected place due to a path setting.   All I can suggest is running an exhaustive search of your file tree from the root directory.  If you find the file, you need to move it to the same directory as the BRD file.

Good luck!  Sorry I can't be more helpful.

So you need to make the variants of your design using Part Manager first. Once they are there you can generate a varaint.lst and apply it to the PCB. Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8U5mmUVS70
