Couple things I'd look at (and you didn't mention where the DXF file came from, please add that)

    1) Bring the DXF file into a CAD tool like AutoCAD or IntelliCAD (comes with Allegro). Make sure it's a viable DXF file 1st. You can also find out the UNITS of measure (Inch or millimeters)
    2) Check the .brd file UNITS prior to importing the DXF file. It should match whatever your DXF file is set at.

I always bring the DXF file into IntelliCAD before I try bringing it into Allegro. I can kill whatever I don't need. Plus I select everything; EXPLODE ALL; and PURGE ALL. Then I save it out under v12. This assures me that I ALWAYS get what I want when I import it into Allegro.

(PS for IntelliCAD... It's on the install CD )

    Good day.

    hi mitch,

the dxf file came from the customer. its a board outline with a lot of text in it. we already open it using AR_CAD (Intellicad) and it is intact. but we cannot explore through it because the software is in japanese. but i manage somehow to load the board only by trial and error method on the selection of which file you want to import. thanks a lot for your help. i wish could change the language settings of the software so that it would be easier to delete unnecessary things on the dxf file. this time it was a miracle that i manage to get through it:) whewwww....

looking forward for your continuous support.
    thanks a lot

    have a nice day ahead,
    eric
