Transmission Line Modeling in PSpice

DesignTech
DesignTech over 1 year ago

High-end processors for faster computation are a demand for every electronic gadget in today’s world. In high-speed signal transmission, understanding the transmission line behavior is imperative to achieving proper impedance matching and proper termination to minimize loss stemming from reflections and maximize signal integrity.

PSpice lets you model the transmission line behavior accurately via a network of distributed R, L, and C elements.

It is important to understand how and why a transmission line behaves as it does to demystify the reasons for its characteristics and to gain an in-depth understanding in terms of its fundamental elements. In other words, L and C (for a lossless transmission line) are vital.

You can perform some SPICE simulations to gain a deeper understanding of the way a transmission line functions.

Can I get access to PSpice? I am the student of masters at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. I am not able to simulate transmission line models on cadence as it showing some message on spectre while I am simulating it. It is saying " Opening the PSFASCII file ../psf/subckt.info.subckts ... "

You can download the student version of PSpice software and get started with it from pspice.com. Below is the link for reference
