How can I define global parameters to use in different expressions in my design?

To define global parameters in Capture:

  1. Choose Place > Part
  2. Place an instance of PARAM from special.olb
  3. Double-click it to open the property editor spreadsheet
  4. Click <New Property>
  5. Type Name=<param name>
  6. Click on the cell below <param name>. Type in the value
  7. Enable Display [ON/OFF] checkbox and click Apply
  8. In Display Properties dialogue box select “Name and Value”
  9. Click OK

Now you can use these parameters in your design as needed.

Below example shows parameters being used to define component values.

These parameters can also be used in Parametric Sweep for analyzing the variation in results with varying parameters.
