Frequency analyses in ADAMS Car/Ride

Hi,

I have excitements from a real four-post rig and I want to use them to excite my model in ADAMS four-post rig and perform PSD analyses. However, I couldn't find any example or clear description niether in the web nor in ADAMS related communities (or I might missed them in those big databases). I would appreciate if anyone here can provide links or share experiences on how to get started with that.

The process which I did until now:
Creating an ASCII file from the measurements (*.MAT) and import them as Spline. Reading out the Spline as my actuator input in the Vibration analyses. This gives me constant error message about the Spline!

Thanks in advance
Mehdi

In order for this group to help, I think you'll need to provide more details on your file format, how you imported the data, and exactly how you set up the analysis.

Ok. Here is the process which I did earlier though now I realised one source of the error therefore another question came up. So I explain the question completely with all the process performed:

    1. I have the rig displacement from the real test rig which is recorded in a MATLAB file which includes the displacement in the time domain. I generate the ASCII file using MATLAB functions where the first column is time and the second is displacement.
    2. Then the ASCII file is imported as a Test Data (*.*) to ADAMS/Car with independent column as 1 which is time.
    3. Then the intention was to do a frequency analyses on the chassis with excitation in some point on the chassis using the imported file and study some other points of interest on the chassis. (let say excitation in the rear axle and study the driver seat eigenfrequencies)
    4. In the previous approach I was using that Spline in the “Full Vehicle Vibration Setup” where I was defining the “actuator properties” at each wheel. I was using “PSD” option but apparently the Spline in this case should only be in frequency domain and that was the source of error I think!
But now the question is that is there any direct way or approach in ADAMS to excite an specific wheel with a time-displacement excitation file I mentioned above, and latter perform frequency analyses on different points of interest on the vehicle?

Use Ride->Full-Vehicle Analysis->Four-Post Test Rig, set the Actuator Type to displacement, and Input Source to "arbitrary solver functions." Then it's up to you to write the functions for each wheel displacement. You'll probably want something like "AKISPL(time, 0, wheel_disp_spline)." Read the Solver documentation for AKISPL to see if it will meet your needs. You should also read the Adams Car-Ride documentation on the ISO Ride Index.
