Roadtrain Modeling in Adams/Car

Hugo Cavalini Agudelo

Hello colleagues,

I am currently developing a sugarcane roadtrain model (as shown below) as part of my master's thesis in Adams/Car.

At this stage, I am working on modeling the dolly. My approach has been to use msc_truck_rigid_tractor as a base, since it already includes a fifth wheel, but so far I have not been successful with this approach.
I would appreciate any guidance from those who have experience with this type of vehicle modeling. In particular, I would like to know whether there are available examples of configurations involving a truck with both a trailer and a semi-trailer.

Thank you in advance for your support.

    Hi Hugo,

Some years ago I created an Adams Truck add-on to be able to model this kind of bigger vehicles in a feasible way. It makes use of a hidden feature for communicator minor roles, so that it is possible to have multiple trailers, dollies, etc.  So, what I have does not help you in the modeling of specific elements, but it would help you in the greater picture, like setting up the double road train you have in your image.

I included assemblies of b-double, b-triple, double road train and triple road train in my database.

If this is what you are after, then I can dig up my customization and send it to you. (I hope it still works - it was created 7 years ago).

    Hi Henrik,

That’s precisely what I need, and it would be extremely helpful! Having access to your add-on would save me a lot of time. Thanks a lot for offering to share it!
