    Hello,

I recommend that you update your name and your company name in your profile here.

In Adams View, for instance, when creating a joint, you can change Normal to Working Grid to Pick Geometry Feature to be able to select direction vectors such as markers' x, y or z arrows or geometries edges, etc.

Please check out the attached image that shows this option in the container when generating a revolute joint.

    Thank you,

    Hi Maziar,
Thank you for the useful information.
The reason for asking the question is, the direction vectors of the principal moment of Inertia plane are printed out by CAD software when inertia are calculated . I am trying to take advantage of that data. I have attached a photo of what I am looking for in ADAMS/VIEW.

    Hi Ilapakurti,

I am not familiar with the option above in Adams Car as I am not an Adams Car user. However, if you would like to use the orientation of principal axes of the moments of inertia, you can use the orientation of the aggregate center of mass of the CAD parts of interest.

In order to promptly calculate the aggregate mass and inertia of parts of interest, you can go to Tools > Aggregate Mass and select the parts of interest and hit OK as in the attachment. The report shows the orientation of the aggregate center of mass.

I hope you find this helpful.

    Thank you,

First thing you have to know is that A/Car is nothing but a heavily customized A/View.
Many things are done in the dBoxes and/or via functions.
Usual way to find out is to check with the info button what the marker parametrics ended up with after modifying it with the dbox.

In this case you'llfind that it just changed the euler angeles in orientation, which brings us to the trace that maybe the dbox is doing all the calculations.
And bingo: It uses ori_all_axis to calculate new euler angles from the given input.

    direction_vectors
How could you use that in A/View ?
Well ori_all_axis is a design time function and could also be used as a parametric expression for orientation of markers like
    orientation = (ori_all_axis({{0,0,0},{0.9,0.06,-0.2},{-0.2,-0.006,-0.9}}, "ZX")

You could also build an own dbox or enhance the existing one with the above algorithm.
