Jonathan Corno over 6 years ago
I am trying to convert a control arm in ADAMS car from rigid to flexible using viewflex but I get this error message
er1
This is the end of the file to check for more details
er2
is the error not enough memory? and If so, How do I add more memory?

    Hello,

    Can you please let me know:
    1. some details about the geometry of the rigid part you are making flexible;
    • the dimensions of the CAD geom;
    • the complexity of the CAD features;
    2. whether you are using the default settings for mesh size;
    3. whether you are suing the default setting for attachments;
    4. your version of Adams?

    Could you please update your name in your profile?

    Thank you,
    Maziar Rostamian

    1. the geometry of the rigid part is a link between two points, so just a cylinder, diameter of 0.75 inches, i believe 18.2 inches long. i was not using any CAD geometry, just the viewflex create mnf, but if i did use cad it would still be a cylinder with those dimensions.
    2. Yes I was using the default settings
    3. yes i was using default attachments
    4. 2020

    i will update my profile
    thank you,

    Hi Jonathan,

    I assume you have not connected this cylinder part to anything else. Before making the part flexible, there needs to be at least one connection defined between the part of interest and the rest of the Adams model.

    Please note that the default settings for mesh size may result in a mesh that is too refined or too coarse depending on what the overall size of the geometry is. Moreover, the default attachment node selection in the RBE2 definition in ViewFlex is 4 of the closest nodes, which is not be relied upon for accurate results. Therefore, this means that for proper flex body generation, you would need to go to the attachments tab and manually generate the RBE2 definitions.

    Thank you,

    Thanks maziar,
    this cylinder is a link in a suspension template so it is connected, on one side to a trailing arm and the other to a body (chassis).

    when i open advanced settings, ADAMS crashes

    Thanks for the info. It seems as if this is a graphics instability issue. It may also be a corrupted BIN file issue if you are working off of a BIN file. I strongly recommend that you refer to this article for more information on resolving graphics instability issues (section 2 of the article) and BIN file corruption issues (section 1 of the article).

    Please let me know if this helps.
