I am trying to generate a request for angular momentum, so I have a measure for angular momentum of a body, but then when I reference that measure in the requests (define using function expression) it doesn't register and it just outputs 0.

How can I fix this? I'm using Adams 2021.3.

You could, perhaps, use the same function expression in the REQUREST. If that's not an option for any reason, I recommend using a state variable (x) instead of a measure. Then you can call the state variable using the VARVAL() function.

I didn't use an expression, I did a direct part measure of the body. I tried then referencing the part measure in the request directly and then also tried referencing it in a state variable and calling varval() in the request. And neither worked. I also tried to reference the part measure in a computated measure which worked but I can't figure out how to call the computated measure in a request.

There seems to be two issues here:

    1. The dialog box for Rigid-Body > Measure does not indicate that the angular momentum measure is about the part CM. The docs clearly mentions it here:

Adams Basic Package > Adams View > Adams View > Testing Models > Simulation Basics > About Simulation Output

I will report that to PD.

    2. The measure does seem to have a bug which does not allow for calling it elsewhere. Even when one exports the model to ADM, it shows a FUNCTION = 0. I will report this as well.

If you need to call the measure somewhere else, the workaround is to explicitly compute the ang. momentum in a function measure.

I will create a case for your for tracking this.

    Thank you,
    Maziar
