Mesh connectivity between two contact bodies for thermal analysis

Ayush Srivastava
Ayush Srivastava 8 months ago

Hello everyone,

I am running a thermal analysis in marc mentat where two bodies and in contact with either different mesh or same mesh, but when heat load is applied to one body it doesn't conduct the heat  to the second body. If anyone have any suggestions that I can try, please do feel free to provide it.

Thanks.

Hi Ayush, You can define Thermal Glue contact between the two contact bodies with "Temperature constraint" activated as shown in below image, to maintain constant temperature at the contact interface…

    Hello Ayush,

    Greetings of the day.

In Marc Mentat, to ensure heat transfer between two contact bodies with different or same meshes during thermal analysis, you must define thermal contact properties specifically, the contact heat transfer coefficient, between the bodies. Without this, heat will not conduct across the interface, even if the bodies are in contact.

You can have a look at the user guide example e080 - Thermal Contact Analysis in a Pipe which will help you.

    Regards,

    Hi Amol,
thank you for the suggestion. I will surely look at the example and try to apply it in my simulation.
