I'm trying to import the mesh from Patran-Nastran which is in .dbf format into CANDE software, but I keep receiving error saying that mesh geometry cannot be read in CANDE. I was wondering if anyone has same experience or the solution to this problem?

I think you mean in .bdf format (aka .dat input file)?
CANDE documentation says it only supports the following NASTRAN entities:
GRID, CBAR, CTRIA3, CQUAD4, PSHELL, CGAP, SPC and FORCE

I did a little test. It looks like CANDE doesn't like the G4 field on the CQUAD4 to be truncated early. I had to add spaces after the last grid on each CQUAD4, like this
    CQUAD4  21   1    1    2    5    4[end of line]
    CQUAD4  21   1    1    2    5    4 [add spaces]
If that doesn't work, read the log file created in the same directory. It might have additional errors to check.
And, if that doesn't work, contact the CANDE developers with your questions.

Thanks a lot Ken, yes, it needs a specific number of spaces for both GRID and CQUAD commands, but they should be added manually after .bdf file is created by Nastran to make it compatible for Cande.
