What’s new in Celsius Thermal Solver 2023.1 - #3 – Power loss transfer capability & smart boundary detection

This three-part series highlights new and enhanced features of Cadence® CelsiusTM Thermal Solver in the System Analysis 2023.1 base release. The Sigrity and System Analysis (SIGRITY/SYSANLS) 2023.1 base release is now available at Cadence Downloads.

Power Loss Transfer Capability

( New ) When working on E/T Co-Simulation flows, you can transfer the power loss calculated in the Celsius Solid Objects Simulation for 3D Structures (Celsius 3D) module to the Celsius Fluid Flow Simulation (Celsius CFD) module. In Celsius 3D, the power loss due to Joule heating is displayed in the Result Summary for each object under the Parts node in the Project pane.

When you open the updated .3dth file in Celsius CFD, individual objects that have current flowing through them are automatically set as non-rectangular objects, and the power loss values are applied to those objects by default.

Smart Boundary Detection

(Enhanced) The Celsius Solid Objects Simulation for 3D Structures (Celsius 3D) module now supports smart boundary detection. With this feature, the software identifies the boundary conditions set for the selected face and displays those settings in the Property pane. In case there are no boundary conditions set for the selected face, the Property pane shows the properties for the entire geometry instead.

When setting the boundary conditions, the context menu changes depending on whether a face or a solid object is selected. If a face is selected, the context menu will display options specific to that face. If an object is selected, the context menu will show the options applicable to the object.
