Clarity – Tip of the week – How to place a 3D component on to a PCB by using Clarity 3D Workbench

It is difficult to place a 3D component on a PCB because the coordinates may not match. There is a way to import and place a 3D component on to a PCB by using Clarity 3D Workbench, which requires minimum effort.

Import the 3D component to Clarity 3D Workbench and make sure that its origin is at (0,0,0).

Then, export the 3D component in STEP format.

Add a Simple User Coordinate System (SimpleUCS) to the PCB for the 3D component that you want to place.

Then, import the 3D component. The 3D component will be properly placed on the PCB.
