Clarity: Tip of the Day – How to export an encrypted model from Clarity3DWorkbench

One of the challenges engineers face while sharing data with a client or vendor is how the data can be encrypted to make it secure. This is also applicable to simulation models that should be encrypted while sharing with users outside of the organization. Clarity3DWorkbench supports exporting the model with an encryption.

You can follow these steps to encrypt the model.

1. Select the components that must be encrypted.

2. Select Modeller > Export Component.

3. Enter a name in the File name field and save the file.

4. The Export Component window will open. You can select the Encrypt File option and provide the password. You can also select the Allow Local Edit option if you want to let the user edit the model. Click OK.

5. The user can import the component by entering the password.

Do you think this option helps protect the confidentiality of your simulation models?

Share your thoughts on this feature.

The Clarity3Dworkbench allows designers to import and export individual designs using a concept called 3DComponents. It allows designers to protect the intellectual property of their designs when communicating with their vendors (customers), for example, by encrypting (using a password) and hiding the main design portions and showing only a few contact points that will be used in the target design.

You can refer the following article for more details on creating 3D Components with encryption in Clarity 3D Workbench.
