Clarity – Tip of the week: Waveport solve only option in Clarity 3D Workbench.

For any design with wave ports, it is recommended that you select the Waveport solve only option to ensure that the field behavior at the port interface is as expected, before running a full 3D-EM simulation. The Waveport solve only option solves the 2D Maxwell's equations and calculates the wave port parameters (impedance and propagation constant). You can adjust the wave port size if the fields at the port interface are not as expected to get the correct behavior.

Clarity 3D Workbench:

Go to menu Solver -> Analysis Setup -> Simulation Options

Figure 1, 2, 3 and 4 show fields behavior at port interface, characteristic impedance, Gamma real and Gamma imaginary, respectively.
