Sigrity – Tip of the week: Pin Group Editor in PowerSI

A new option, Use Grouped pins from Pin Group Editor, has been added to the Port dialog box under the Pin Based Automatic Port Settings.

The Pin Group Editor is a GUI, which allows PowerSI users to generate pin groups for power and ground nets having many pins. The pin groups will be saved in an XML-format pin group file and in the the MCP session of a generated *.ckt circuit file, which you can reuse later during a pin-based model extraction.

The advantages include:

  • You can select pins based on the selected component and net and generate a group.
  • The selected pins will be highlighted in the layout view for check and edit.
  • The pin groups can be ungrouped to release pins.
  • A cell-based grouping method is also supported by defining the desired grid number.
  • The pin groups can be saved as an xml file for reuse.

Selecting this option enables Pin Group Editor, which lets you create custom pin groups according to your simulation requirements.

Have you used Pin Group Editor in your extractions? Let us know your experience.
