Sigrity-Tip of the Week: How to cascade S-Parameters in PowerSI

SimTech
SimTech over 1 year ago

Starting from Sigrity 2023.1 release, PowerSI offers a Cascading Network Parameter option to combine two S-Parameter blocks into one. To merge the two model files, perform the following steps:

1.Launch PowerSI with any available license.

2. Click Cascading Network Parameter from the View menu.

3. In the File Specification column of the dialog box that opens right-click to upload the required S-Parameter files.

Note: All input and output files must be in the same folder.

4. Once the files are uploaded, click OK to run the cascading operation. The resulting S-Parameter will be automatically displayed on the waveform canvas.

It is not uncommon for SI/PI engineers to use S-parameter models to represent various system blocks in their design, including motherboards, daughter cards, IC packages, IC interconnects, passive components, and connectors. The S-parameter models may have been generated using Allegro-Sigrity extraction tools, third party extraction tools,
or obtained from measurement. These models can represent signals nets, power delivery, or both. The S-parameter files can often vary in bandwidth, sample rate, reference impedance, port count, and data format. It is often highly desirable to obtain the cascaded S-parameter response of a multi-block system before an extensive system-level, channel or bus simulation is carried out. Hence, SI/PI engineers need access to convenient utilities to obtain cascaded S-parameters. clickhere to deep dive in to the cascade Sparameters in sigrity tools.
