Renormalizing port impedance in S-Parameter results without re-extraction

Running simulations with different port impedances can be a tedious and time-consuming process. It would be ideal to obtain S-Parameter files corresponding to various port impedances without having to resimulate. Fortunately, PowerSI offers a solution to this problem.

To change or renormalize the port impedance in an S-Parameter file without re-extracting, follow these steps in PowerSI:

  1. Load the S-Parameter file into the Network Parameter Display in PowerSI.
  2. Right-click on the S-Parameter file and select Matrix Operations > Renormalize.
  3. Change the port reference impedance as required.
  4. Select OK. The results with the new port impedance will be displayed in the Network Parameter Display.

By using this method, you can easily obtain S-Parameter files with different port impedances without having to rerun simulations.

Have you tried this option before? Please try this method today and share your experience with us. We would love to hear about it!

Happy simulating!
