Make layout window active when mouseover in Cadence 6

Hi all,

I am currently doing some layout with Virtuoso (XL) in Cadence 6. The issue I'm having is when selecting a layer from the LSW window, then start drawing the layer and scroll up or down with the arrow keys of your keyboard, the LSW window stays active and you start scrolling through your layers instead of your layout window. You always need to right click your mouse button to make the layout window active again. What I want is that the layout window becomes active from the moment you start drawing or when your cursor is above your layout window...It's always been like that in the previous versions from Cadence Virtuoso. I have been going through all the settings but I can't find anything.

 Any suggestions?

    Hi Wim,

    envSetVal("ui"     "sessionFocusPolicy" 'cyclic "CanvasDelay")
; this next setting is the default anyway
    ; envSetVal("ui"     "canvasFocusDelay"   'int    200)

This is covered in more detail in solution 11663810

    Regards,

    Andrew.

That's a window manager setting, nothing to do with Cadence itself.  For example, in the version of KDE I'm using (4.3.4 - a reasonably recent version, so it may not be in the same place for you), in the System Settings, there's Window Behavior, and you can set the focus policy on the Focus tab to "Focus Follows Mouse" for example. In older KDE versions this was done in kcontrol. There's a similar setting in Gnome - and indeed pretty much every window manager I've ever used...

    Regards,

    Andrew.
