Library database ORCAD CIS 16.3

Hello,

I was wondering if there is a wizard and/or tutorial on using some type of database to manage our schematic parts library. We have 1 CIS license and 3 without. The big problem we have is when we upload a common library the schematic doesn’t always update proportionately with the changes made ( this is even after we updated the cache for the changed parts).

I was informed that the way to overcome this is to manage the library with a database using the CIS license.

Any assistance is much appreciated.

As a starting point, try the CIS Users Guide, cisug.pdf in the doc\cisug directory of the installation - you will need CIS installed to have this document probably. This discusses setting up and working with database based properties, basically, the database properties are "injected" into the design and reports from the database so that the values in the database are managed and then the schematic / report properties are updated from the database using the Part Manager.
