PCB footprint viewer??

I am using CIS lite 17.

I have completed a schem in capture and ready to proceed to PCB but, i cannot find or figure out how to view the PCB footprints.

I have watched a you tube video in which it tells  i have manually enter the footprint name in a field box, Ok but how do I know if its the right foot print??

I cannot tell from the name alone as footprint name conventions in CIS is a bit vague, having a viewer would be so much easier.

Is there a PCB footprint viewer??

  • Not by default but there is a Tcl/Tk script that can be added to your installation that will allow you to see this. I've attached a zip file that contains the tcl script and a readme.rtf that has instructions about where to put the tcl script and how to setup Capture to look for Footprints. I would also say that if you are using CIS before you place a Database Part there is a PCB Footprint View in CIS Explorer.
