Virtuosity: Usability Enhancements in the Property Editor

14 Nov 2019 • 2 minute read

Virtuosity

We live in a world where the idea of usability is to make products easy to use, make things easily accessible, and visually appealing. In our constant endeavor to improve the usability of our products, we have enhanced the Property Editor in the Virtuoso® Layout Suite to make it more compact and user-friendly.

Goes without saying that the Property Editor is the most frequently used feature of the Virtuoso platform. Almost all Virtuoso users utilize the Property Editor to edit the design elements. If you haven’t yet noticed the usability enhancements in the Property Editor, read ahead to know about a few usability enhancements that we have provided in the Property Editor.

Usability Enhancements

Property EditorThe Edit Properties form has been revamped to make it more compact. And, for easy access, all the buttons are now available at a single location on the form, the lower-left corner.

We have also introduced a new shortcut menu that has the following options to give you quick access to many useful features:

  • Select All/Clear Selection: Select or deselect all the objects in the selection tree.
  • Deselect: Deselect the highlighted object from the canvas.
  • Keep: Retain the highlighted objects and deselect the other objects on the canvas.
  • Zoom To Selected: Zoom to the selected object in the canvas.
  • Highlight Modified Fields: Highlight the modified fields in the Edit Properties form.
  • Dynamic Cross Highlight: Dynamically highlight the objects on the canvas.
  • Collapse All: Collapse all expanded tree nodes in the selection tree.
  • Expand Selected: Expand the selected node in the selection tree.

Use these features of the Property Editor to easily edit the properties of your design elements.

About Virtuosity

Virtuosity has been our most viewed and admired blog series for a long time that has brought to fore some lesser known, yet very useful software and documentation improvements, and also shed light on some exciting new offerings in Virtuoso. We are now expanding the scope of this series by broadcasting the voice of different bloggers and experts, who would continue to preserve the legacy of Virtuosity, and try to give new dimensions to it by covering topics across the length and breadth of Virtuoso, and a lot more… To receive notifications about new blogs in this series, click Subscribe and submit your email ID in the Subscriptions box.
