Virtuoso Studio IC25.1 ISR3 Now Available

17 Dec 2025 • 4 minute read

Virtuoso Studio

The Virtuoso Studio IC25.1 production release is now available at Cadence Downloads. The README.txt file in the installation directory provides information about supported platforms and other release compatibility.

IC25.1

Here's a list of the highlights from the Virtuoso Studio IC25.1 ISR release:

  • Retaining Design Hierarchy of a Plotted Signal (Virtuoso ADE Artist, Virtuoso ADE Assembler)
The design hierarchy of plotted signals is now retained even after resubmitting the simulation.
  • Saving and Restarting Unfinished Error Points (Virtuoso ADE Artist, Virtuoso ADE Assembler)
The Save and Restart flow saves the state files generated during the simulation run for transient analysis. This enables you to run the simulation for a specific history item directly using the Rerun Unfinished/Error Points option from the context menu of the History tab. The Enable save/restart flow for transient analysis option in the Run Options form enables the feature by default.
  • Adding Reliability Degradation Parameters (Virtuoso ADE Artist, Virtuoso ADE Assembler, Virtuoso ADE Explorer)
Use relexpr expressions to add the reliability degradation parameters that can help retrieve information about maximum, minimum, or the number of parameters violating the reliability threshold. The relexpr expressions can be specified on the Outputs Setup pane.
  • Optimizing Duplicate Simulation Runs in Reliability Scenarios (Virtuoso ADE Artist, Virtuoso ADE Assembler, Virtuoso ADE Explorer)
Simulation runs in reliability scenarios are now optimized by identifying the results of unique corners and reusing them across design points. This enables you to avoid duplicate runs because results of a scenario can be reused in other scenarios when running fresh or stress-stage simulations in the Aging scenario.
  • Searching and Replacing Outputs (Virtuoso ADE Artist, Virtuoso ADE Assembler, Virtuoso ADE Explorer)
The Search and Replace feature enables you to modify the outputs listed in the Outputs Setup tab in your external text editor. This ensures efficient customization of the outputs.
  • Viewing Worst-Case Violations (Virtuoso ADE Artist, Virtuoso ADE Assembler, Virtuoso ADE Explorer)
You can display only those violations that have the highest value per net or instance across corners and sweep points by selecting the Worst Case option. This enables you to identify worst cases, such as the longest duration of violations over corners, the maximum peak value of violations, and the maximum violating ratio per net or instance.
  • Optimizing Design Area (Virtuoso ADE Artist, Virtuoso ADE Assembler, Virtuoso ADE Explorer)
You can optimize the area occupied by devices in a design by defining area specifications. To define area specifications, create a configuration file containing area formulas, add output expressions, and specify the SKILL function, getCellArea, to calculate the area.
  • Applying Plotting Template to Selected Corners (Virtuoso ADE Artist, Virtuoso ADE Assembler, Virtuoso ADE Explorer)
Use the Plot Filtered Corners option to plot results using the selected plotting template only for the corners that are currently visible in the Results tab.
  • Plotting Templates in Append Mode (Virtuoso ADE Artist, Virtuoso ADE Assembler, Virtuoso ADE Explorer)
Plotting templates in Append mode lets you reuse the plotting template and append results from multiple histories into a single graph.
  • Enhancement in the Property Editor (Virtuoso Schematic Editor)
Select the View by Property (Deep) option to group properties by their attributes as deep as needed. This allows for detailed viewing and editing across multiple selected objects, including nested sub-values.
  • Using the S-Parameter Assistant (Virtuoso Visualization and Analysis XL)
The S-Parameter assistant lets you easily plot S-Parameter values along with derived parameters, such as L, R, C, and Q. This eliminates the need to create custom calculator functions, saving time and effort.
  • Design Review with Edit in Place (Virtuoso Layout Suite)
The design review feature is accessible with Edit In Place, enabling you to descend into any instance to conduct the review for the cell. You can modify the design to fix defects in the descended hierarchy while remaining in context with the entire design hierarchy.
