Virtuoso Video Diary: Reusing Variables through CSV Export and Import

5 Apr 2018 • 2 minute read

Do you have some specific variables in a test and wonder if you could have a way to reuse them globally for all tests or locally in a particular test? You will be glad to know that Virtuoso® ADE Assembler and Virtuoso® ADE Explorer offer you a simple and time-saving solution to perform this task. You can now export variables in a CSV file and then use the same file to import them as global or local variables in any session.

The animation below gives you a glimpse of the process.

CSV Export

By default, the exported CSV file is saved in the same directory from where you launch Virtuoso. After you’ve exported a set of variables to the CSV file, you can further customize this file to change variable values or delete, enable, or disable any variable.

The interesting part is that one CSV file can solve multiple purposes – you can reuse the variables globally by importing the CSV file into the Global Variables section in ADE Assembler, and, you can import the variables locally for a test in ADE Explorer.

To know more about this feature, view the Export and Import Variables in the ADE Assembler video available on Cadence Online Support. Click the video link now or visit Cadence Online Support and search for this video under Video Library.
