Converegence Monitor & Work units

Hello together,

is there a way to refresh the convergence monitor? Sometimes it get stucked and none of changes are displayed. For example I can’t zoom/move the curves, change the axis or selected Simulations.

The second question is about the work units. Is it correct that they have decimal places? I ticked the box foor latest value and get values like .8624. In my understanding it’s similar to the iterations.

Best regards,

Lukas

    Hi Lukas,

    let me answer your questions.

    Refresh convergence monitor

In a future version is already a refresh button integrated. What you can do in the current version to refresh is rather indirect: Select the convergence monitor, deselect and select the simulation you are monitoring.

But actually you description rather sounds like a "broken convergence monitor". Is this a behaviour you can reproduce?

    Work units

Yes it is correct that the work units can have decimals. I have explained that in the demonstration. 1 iteration without multi-grid algorithm is equal to 1 work unit. 1 iteration with multi-grid algroithm is >1 work unit. During the coarse grid initialisation 1 iteration is <1 work unit. The work unit represents the computational cost.

    Does that help you?

    Best regards
    Manuel

    Hi Manuel,

thanks for your answer. Yeah, refreshing isn’t a problem. While the simulation is running it updates itself, depending on what I have set.

Maybe you’re right with the "broken convergence monitor" but for the moment I can’t tell you exactly what it triggers. But it happens more than 5 times while I completed the first three challenges.

    Hi Lukas,

okay then you could try the following:

    • Go to GUI Styles in the bottom menu.
    • Duplicate your preffered GUI style. Rename it, if you want.
    • Activate and select the new created GUI sytel.
    • Actiavte the option advanced widgets in the section GUI behaviour. Now you see the 2 small arrows in the top right corner of each view.
    • Use the arrow icon to delete the convergence monitor:
    • You now have the choice what should be displayed in this view. Select simulation monitor.

    Does it work now again?

    Best regards
    Manuel

Okay, thanks. I will try it if I have the same trouble in challenge 4.
