SKILL for the beginers?

Hi,

  Any resources/guides/tutorials etc for those who want to start messing around with SKILL?

  • A good place to start is to read the SKILL Language User Guide that comes with the software. This is written in the style of a book on programming that you might buy in a bookshop.

    Also Cadence runs a SKILL Programming training class - which can be either done as an instructor led class, or as an Internet Learning Services class.

  • I don't know if you have access to Cadence's Sourcelink support site but, if you do there are a lot of useful SKILL scripts as part of the Sourcelink database. Go to http://sourcelink.cadence.com. You will require a login.

    One tip to searching the 800+ Custom IC SKILL Solutions posted on SourceLink is to select JUST the SKILL solutions documents for your search. From the main SourceLink search form select ONLY (deselect the other doc types and products).

    1. Document Types + Troubleshooting Info + Solutions - check just this box
    2. All Products + Cadence Shared Tools + SKILL - check just this box

    That way when you search for an example of a SKILL procedure like dbCreatePin you will just get the SKILL solutions containing that procedure, not the other manuals, etc.

    I would also recommend  viewing/posting to the Custom IC SKILL forum that compliments this forum.
