Controling the Spectre simulation from Matlab

Hi,

I would like to control the Spectre simulation from Matlab, i.e. I need to pass design variable values to desing, trigger the simulation and  extract the result. As a second step, I would need to do this in optimization or parameter sweep loop.

My present idea how to do this is:

1) at first manually create a design using schematic editor and simulate it in ADE. This will create netlist in /netlist directory.

2) modify runSimulation file so that no IPC is being done from spectre

3) from matlab, parse the input.scs file and set the values of design variables

4) start runSimulation from matlab using system() call.

5) extract results using Spectre/RF matlab toolbox

... and run steps 3-5 in a loop.

I think this should work OK, however I wondered if there is any more straightforward / more elegant solution.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks much,

Miro

     Hi Miro,

I am quite interested in your work. parse the spice netlist in Matlab is not so easy. For passive elements, it's not a paoblem.

For nmos and pmos transistors and some voltage source, how did you parse them and put them to MNA equations?

If you don't mind, may I contact with you by email?
