Options->Display and then turn on "coordinates in banner".

You can choose to set up your units such that symbols and schematics can be created with metric units, but I'm not sure if that's what you want - your question was a little unclear.

There are a number of cdsenv settings that you'd have to set:

    cdba.userUnits     schematicSymbol cyclic "millimeter"
    cdba.userUnits     schematic cyclic "millimeter"

Quite likely you'd want to change the DBUperUU too. The default is 160, but that's a number that's better geared up for inches, because you want to be able to have 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 etc. With metric a number such as 100 or 1000 would be more meaningful:

    cdba.DBUPerUU   schematic               int     100
    cdba.DBUPerUU   schematicSymbol         int     100

You might also want to change the size of the solder dots - this would be:

    schematic dotOverlap float 0.05

or something like that. You'd then have to think about label sizes and so on.

Bear in mind that this is not a trivial change - you'd need to ensure that all your symbol libraries are compatible and behave sensibly with whatever grid you use, and so on, and so on.

So it's not for the faint hearted. The above is almost certainly not a complete list - there are things like the templates for auto-symbol generation to consider too, and many others. You may decide it's not worth the bother, for something that essentially doesn't matter!

    Regards,

    Andrew.
