Importing a Spice model into Cadence

Hello,

 

I'm guessing this isn't the place to ask, but I didn't really find a better place for this.

Is it possible (I would guess so !) to import a spice model into cadence for simulation with spectre ? Is there any doc on this ? A link to a tutorial perhaps ?

    Hi,

    You may need to elaborate more. By Spice models what exactly you mean? A netlist file in spice format? Or, foundry model statements in Spice format? I would assume you actually meant the former.

    Spectre accepts Spice syntax as is. If you have netlist file in spice format, you just need to add the following line in the top of your netlist.

    simulator lang = spice

    // Followed by your spice netlist

    You must be using MMSIM version of Spectre to use Spice netlist directly with Spectre.

    Note - If its the foundry model which you are talking about (in spice syntax), then you need to make sure its meant for Spectre simulator. Foundries release different model files for different simulators.

    Chapter 3 in Spectre User Guide talks in detail about Spice compatibility with Spectre simulator.

    Actually you only need to put simulator lang=spice if the file suffix is ".scs". If it is something other than ".scs" it is assumed to be spice format

    Usually it's a matter of setting up the CDF properly; there's at least one solution on sourcelink (now Cadence Online Support) on this.

     Please read the forum guidelines - posting to a 2 year old thread makes little sense, especially as it's not directly related. Also you sent me a direct message - I will not answer any quicker if you do that - remember that we are all volunteers on these forums, including the Cadence folks, and so may be busy doing other things (I was away on business - still am).

    As far as I can see, this is an HP model, but it does not appear to have been implemented in spectre, nor can I see any  requests to do so. We do have the RPI atft model available though.
