CDF parameters

I've created a component with a pPar("...") parameter, and I've defined that parameter in CDF (as being a base parameter of type float). Then I've created a schematic with 3 instances of this component and I can go into the properties of each of them individually and set the value of the parameter to a number. What I'd like to be able to do at this point is use a variable name or expression for these parameters and then set this in the ADE, but when I try to change the numerical value of the parameter to an expression it won't let me. What could the problem be?

     Hi Sim,

    I think that the dataType of the parameter would need to be "string" in order for pPar and design variables to work. Can you try this and send a reply to the forum?

    You'll also need to set parseAsCEL to "yes" if you want to enter expressions (as well is being a string, as Lawrence said), and most likely parseAsNumber to "yes" as well.
