autodraw option

Hi Cadence team,

Is there any option for autodraw in  virtuoso6.1.3. Means when I change anything in the LSW window, then the change appeared in the layout window at once without zoom in/out the layout.

Thanks in advance

     Hi Arpi

There are very good reasons why an auto-redraw was not implemented for the LSW:

    a. For large designs, it would cause a delay each time user changes layer settings

    b. It would be inefficient to trigger an auto-redraw for each change because it is not possible for LSW to know if that previous modification is the last. E.g. if user makes 10 changes in LSW, it would not be efficient to auto-redraw 10 times. It is better not to auto-redraw and to let the user do it manually after the 10th change.

But if you use layer palette in IC614, auto-redraw has already been implemented. To use the layer palette, set the following shell variable:

    setenv CDS_USE_PALETTE

You can read more about the layer palette by clicking here. It is a replacement for LSW.

    Best regards
    Quek
