Plotting from Cadence composer

I am trying to plot from the composer window using the Design>Plot>Submit> Plot to file option, but am not having any success. I get a couple of messages - No Plotters unknown plotter - No Size is not a a valid paper size for No Plotters I do not have any choices in the Plotter Name and Paper Size options. I used the following .cdsplotinit file in my home directory (as well as the .cdsplotinit that came with the installation). Can anyone tell me what is going on. Hi Vijay

Would you please upload your .cdsplotinit file as an attachment? The formatting in your previous post is lost and it is quite hard to check if there are any syntax errors in the file.

    Best regards
    Quek

Hi Quek, Here is the text file (the file was saved as .cdsplotinit in my home directory). I also tried the .cdsplotinit template file that came with the Cadence installation and I get similar error. Thank you for your assistance. Best regards, -Vijay

    Hi Vijay

There are CR (carriage return) characters in the file that are causing the error. Perhaps you have edited the file in Microsoft windows environment before transfering it to your solaris/linux environment. Please execute the following cmd in a terminal window. It will resolve the problem:

    linux>dos2unix .cdsplotinit

In general, you can check for such problems using the "file" cmd:
    linux>file .cdsplotinit

    Best regards
    Quek

Hi Quek, Thank you for your suggestions. I am now able to run the plot option and it gives me a message that the plotting was done successfully. However all the plots appear totally blank (except for the lower right corner that shows the schematic name, time etc) - I tried all options so far. If you have a cdsplotinit file that I can use that will be great - I am only interested in plotting to ps files. Thank you and best regards, -Vijay

    Hi Vijay

Your .cdsplotinit is fine. It is most likely your postscript viewer that is giving the problem. I can generate a good postscript file using your .cdsplotinit file. As a quick test, you can view your postscript file here.

Upgrading the viewer would most likely resolve the problem. Check the version of your viewer. If I use gnome viewer ver2.8, I see the same problem too. You might want to download the files from here.

    Best regards
