Partial de-selecting a group of objects for cadence 5141.

Currently I have "Infix" turned on in the user preferences. I'm not sure what the difference is by turning this on or off. When I have a group of objects selected and I want to de-select certain one I need to hit ctrl & left mouse click. This does not change whether "infix" in on or off. Looking to see where I an hover over a certain object and hit "d" to de-select that particular object. I'm setup for a partial select at all times. Thanks !!

     Hi MaskDesigner,

With infix turned on, commands like delete, copy, move etc. that would prompt for an initial point or object will take the cursor location of where the command was started for that initial point (or object at that point) - this is assuming that a bindkey started the action, not a menu. Hence the usual explanation is that with infix turned on, you are not asked for an initial point (because this is supplied as the location where the bindkey was activated).

What I see with infix turned on, for a pre-selected set, the Ctrl-Btn1Down action behaves more or less the same as the "d" bindkey, even though they run slightly different SKILL commands.  The first runs "mouseSubSelectPt()" (in either a Schematic or Layout) and the latter runs "geSubSelectPoint()", but the latter has optional arguments for denoting "partial" selection mode, and this is not given for the "d" key binding.

So, although I'm not sure I fully understand your question, I think that if you are seeing a difference in behaviour between Ctrl-LMB and "d", it is because of the above explanation.  You can modify the "d" bindkey encoding, or you could create a new bindkey definition to mimic the Ctrl-LMB combination (I'm assuming that you want a keyboard key rather than a mouse-and-key combination) .

I hope that this answers your question.

    Regards,

    Lawrence.
