ADE XL: Re-evaluate results after Monte Carlo analysis

Dear all,

I am running a Monte Carlo analysis using the ADE XL Tools from Cadence (version 6.1.3.500.13).

In the Outputs Setup window I have added some expressions and some ocean scripts to be evaluated during the simulation. If I run the simulation everything works fine and all the expressions/scripts get correctly evaluated.
To plot a Histogram I switch to view Yield in the Results window and right click on the simulation name and select Plot Histogram...

If I now add / change an expression in the Outputs Setup window and hit the evaulte button in the Results window, the results are not updated. (The option Evalute Expressions is greyed out as well...)

I've also tried to run the Monte Carlo simulation with the 'Save Data to Allow Family plots' options enabled but still no success. Anyway, the data to be able to evalute my expressions are browseable in the Results Browser (ResultsBrowser->mc1_tran-montecarlo). So all the data is available to re-evalute new or updated expressions. There are also no errors or warnings in the CIW. The only 'meassage' I get when I hit the Evalute button is: _axlResultsEvaluate(axlOutputsForm3->axlOutputsWidget3 0)

I would like to modify some expressions/ocean scripts after a lengthy Monte Carlo run and then be able to re-evalute the results and plot it as a Histogram. Does anyone know a solution or workaround to this problem?

 Thank you!

 Greetings,
        Lukas

    Hi Lukas.

Following solution talks about your problem :

You may need to set the below environment variable in .cdsinit :

    envSetVal("adexl.monte" "savedatainseparatedir" 'boolean t)

    Regards,

    Sunil

    Hello Sunil,

thank you for the fast and helpful answer... Everything now works as expected. Thank You!

Setting the "adexl.monte" "savedatainseparatedir" variable actually did the trick. Anyway, it seems like the variable is automatically set by enabling the "Save Data to Allow Family Plots Options" in the Monte Carlo Setup.
So there is no need to edit the .cdsinit file.

Just for future reference: It seems that at least IC version 6.1.3.500.3 needs to be installed altogether with the new spectre version. If someone just uses the new IC version together with an older spectre version (e.g. Version 7.0.1.076 -- 25 Aug 2008), spectre will give following warning:

    WARNING (SFE-30): "input.scs" 286: mc1: `savedatainseparatedir' is not a valid parameter for an instance of `montecarlo'.  Ignored.

In my case everything works alrigth with IC version 6.1.3.500.13 and spectre Version 7.1.1.187.isr11 32bit -- 18 Aug 2009 .

    Best regards,

    Lukas
