Do you know some software which can be invoked from CADENCE to PRINT schematics (hierarhically) or spectre simulation plots in PDF. In our company we use such one made by our guys but it doesn't behave very well.

Thnks for your responces in advance!

    Hi Tyanata

Please refer to solution 11184596. It provides a step-by-step guide on how to implement a pdf printer using "ps2pdf" cmd.

    Best regards

Thanks for the responce. The approach works perfectly. But do you know, when I print hierarchy, is there way instead of creating several pdf files all of them to be joined to one multy page pdf file.

    Hi Tyanata

Merging of pdf files is not possible using the solution. Actually I think there is no easy way to do it. A possible workaround is to use another program such as "PDF Split and Merge" to do it.

    Best regards

The best thing is to contact Cadence customer support, then your request can be added to the many others asking for concatenation to a single postscript file, and generation of PDF. That way it becomes clearer to R&D how many customers are asking for this.

At the moment, there's no easy way of concatenating all the files together because each schematic is printed separately. However, it would easy enough to use the schPlot() SKILL function to generate PostScript files of the entire hierarchy, concatenate together, and then call ps2pdf to convert to PDF.

If you don't want to do that, I'd suggest printing to PostScript, using the "print to file" and then manually using "cat" on all the files to merge into a single PostScript, and then calling ps2pdf on this.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Give "pdftk" a try. See http://www.accesspdf.com/pdftk/

That's what I've used in the past to merge PDFs, apply watermarks, etc.

I tried approach with cat ps files and after that ps2pdf of the merged file. it works only drawback may be will be that merged pdf will not be hiearchicaly made but all cercuit will be put in it in random way (I am not sure yet about that). Can you explain in more detail firs approach with the skill function?

I've not implemented the SKILL to do this - it was just an idea. Unfortunately I'm short of time at the moment - dealing with customer support requests - so better to talk to customer support about this, then we can capture your requirements properly as I said earlier.

    Andrew.

Thanks for the useful help. By the way why each time when printing in cadence if header option is checked. It appears on anothes sheet. So instead one sheet with header,  two sheets appear one is with printing object other one is the header?

So what is your question? The "header" adds another sheet with info as to what was printed - that's what it is for!

    Andrew.

    Hi,

All which is written in your post works perfectly. Only one problem appear, after concatenating all .ps files with cat command and after that running ps2pd. Is it possible all subcells in some schematics to be printed in pdf as hyperlinks. So when somebody click on certain cell, schematics of this cell to be opened.
