Ruler setup

Dear All,

I am using IC5.1.0 and when I am working on the layout, I have noticed that the marking of the ruler is kind of thick. I was wondering whether there is way to make it thinner so that I can get the accurate result.

Thanks

    Dear Andrew,

Thank you very much for your reply. I went to the link but still cannot solve the problem. The closest that I went to is the following:

click Virtuoso XL layout -> display -> and the display option window pops out. However, I cannot find lpp "hilite drawing4". Could you tell me the details step by step please?

    Thanks

In the CIW go to Tools->Display Resource Manager and then hit Edit. Set the Application to "Virtuoso" and choose the Tech Lib Name to whatever your technology library is. Set Layers to "All" and then scroll down and look for "hilite drawing4". Select it,a dn then you can change the colour and line style. Hit Apply when you're done.

You can also get at the same UI from the LSW, via Edit->Display Resource Editor. Or if you can find the layer in the LSW, you can also do shift-left-mouse-button over that layer-purpose, and it will launch the display resource editor for that layer.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Dear Andrew,

Thank you so much for your detailed instructions. It is very easy to follow and I get it without any problems. By the way, do you know how to find the manual of using "Assura" please? Thanks.

    Max,

The LPP of a ruler is always hilite/drawing4. Unfortunately this is not (yet) documented - there's an outstanding request for this to be documented. In IC614 rulers are now editable objects, but even so they're displayed using the packet for this specific layer-purpose-pair.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

The assura manuals will be in, er, the Assura installation, strangely enough. Pretty much every Cadence installation has a "doc" directory at the top level, and the documents are under there.

You can also run cdsdoc (or cdnshelp in later releases) and open the documentation for that release. Even if you're running cdnshelp from a different hierarchy, you could always do "cdnshelp -hierarchy $ASSURAHOME/doc"

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Dear Andrew,

Thank you very much for your great support. I have found the directory which contains all the manuals for assura.

Sorry for dredging up this old topic. I have been able to get a white background working with my schematics and layouts but I'm having a couple teething problems with the rulers. I did change my display.drf file to make the lpp of hilight/drawing4 as black (instead of white), however when I invoke virtuoso I still get white rulers on a white background :-/. If I right-click for a contextual menu while creating a ruler, click on the Display tab and check the box for "Use same color for all rulers" all my rulers suddenly become black and things nicely stay that way (including any new rulers) for the rest of the session.

Do you know why editing my display.drf to reflect hilight/drawing4 = black doesn't just work.

There is also an issue of the dynamic highlighting color of the ruler target. That color selection is also available to change under the Display tab in the "Snap Target Visualization Settings" area, but I can't seem to figure out what lpp that translates to.
